Good Sunday Morning ...... I Am Grand Poodle Sitting For A Week

Good Sunday Morning To You All !!!!!
Well My Youngest Daughter & Her Husband Just Left An Hour Ago, Heading To Florida To Go On A Cruise Ship To The Bahamas.

We Are Sitting Our Toy Grand Poodle Puckie Poo, She May Be Very Small, But She Rules The House When She Is Here, She Is So Spoiled & Thinks She's The Boss.
My Daughter & Son In Law had Rescued Her About 7 Years Ago & She Loves Them So Much

About 7 Years Ago My Daughters Pomeranian Was Stolen Out Of Her Yard. She Was Devastated, And Went Door To Door, Neighborhood to Neighborhood, She Put Flyers All Over Town With His Picture On It Looking For Her Lost Pom.

When One Day She received A Call From A Man That Had Seen Her Flyers In Town. He Explained That He Had Not Seen Her Dog, But His Neighbor Had Moved Out Of Their House A Few Months Ago & Had Just Left The Little Toy Poodle That They Had Payed A Couple Hundred Dollars For Out In The Yard To Fend For It's Self.

He Called Because He Thought She May Want To Come Pick Up The Poodle And Give It A Great Home.

They Went Right Over And Found The Dog In The Yard And Brought Her Home. When They Brought This Dog Home, I Swear This Dog Was So Ugly And Dirty And It's Hair On It's Face And Eyes Was About 7 To 8 Inches Long. The Dog Could Not Even See, It's Hair Was Just All Matted. She Had To Cut A Lot Of It Off Before She Could Even Take Her To The Groomer.

Look How Cute She Is Now, And She Has Been Such A Good Little Dog, Spoiled In Every Way. My Daughter And Son In Law Have No Children Yet ( Although They Have Been Trying). They Treat This Dog Like It Is A Child. They Love Her So Much.

Well It Is Going To Be A Long Week !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She Will Sit And Wait For Them Looking Out The Door The Whole Time. And Of Course She Has To Sleep In The Bed With Us, On A Pillow, Because That's What She Is Used To.

It Will Be Fun !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yummy Fresh Fried Squash Recipt

Here in the south we love our fried squash. All the veggies for this recipe came fresh from my garden.

You will need:
A large frying pan or skillet, I like to use my electric skillet, but I usually cook for quite a few people

6-8 fresh yellow squash
3-4 fresh zucchini squash
3 medium fresh spring onions (greens and all)
3 tablespoons of olive oil
1 teaspoon lawry's seasoned salt (season to taste)

Slice your yellow & zucchini squash (slice anyway you want. Rounds or wedges)
Chop the spring onions (greens and all)
Let your frying pan or skillet heat up, It needs to be hot, add the olive oil
Then add all squash, onions & seasoned salt.
Cover with a lid & let them steam a little, Open carefully steam will be hot. stir & flip with a spatula until done. I like mine cooked a little brown & soft, but if you like it a little crispy just don't cook it as long.

1940'S HULL ART POTTERY

HULL POTTERY
In the 1940,s hull's pastel tinted realistic floral sprays began flooding the market; it is these for which the Hull company is best remembered. Hull's massive arrayment of art pottery shapes included vases, baskets, ewers, wall pockets, rose bowls- and the list goes on. The company reports a run on console bowls, which were offered in nearly every design. The pastels that tinted the 1940s art lines were very similar in color. tending toward the prominent blues and rose hues, along with others which included peach, almond, apricot and sweet pink, to name but a few. The matte finish lines dominated this period of art pottery production. From the late 1930's to 1940's , Hull vases in many lines appeared relatively simplistic in style. These shapes were repeated usually three and sometimes four times in a single pattern, although the pottery firm was determined that each design keep its individual identity, shapes and ideas were none the less traded from one line to another. Hull's pastel art pottery flourished for over a decade beautiful patterns such as Orchid , Tulip, Iris, Poppy, Water Lilly, Wildflower, Woodland, Magnolia, Rosella, Bow Knot, Calla Lilly and Dogwood.

Turtle Watch Program

Most of the Sea Turtles calling Holden Beach home are Loggerhead Turtles. However, occasionally a Green Turtle visits us. Once a Sea Turtle crawl is found, A team of Turtle Patrol Members assemble at the crawl location to find the eggs. If the nest is in an unsafe location, the nest will be relocated to a safer area on the beach. The nest site is then marked off with stakes, ribbon, and a warning sign that informs people that this is a Sea Turtle Nest and is Protected By The Endangered Species Act.

For the next 55-70 Days of Incubation, the nest will be monitored until hatching. At that time, Turtle Patrol Members account for each hatchling or non fertile egg and insure that the babies make it safely into the ocean. This process is repeated with each and every nest.

The purpose of the Holden Beach Turtle Watch Program is to protect threatened and endangered
Sea Turtles from extinction by educating visitors to our beach, by providing a sanctuary and safe environment for nesting turtles and hatchlings, and by aiding stranded turtles. This permit is granted under the guidance of the North Carolina Fish and Wildlife Commission.

The most common turtle to appear on North Carolina beaches is the Loggerhead turtle
(caretta caretta)

Only females come ashore and that is to lay their eggs. To nest, they return to the beach where they were hatched. They will lay an average of 100 eggs per nest and will nest 4-7 times each nesting season which is every 2-3 years.

The incubation period is approximatley 60 days.

Unfortunately, it is believed that only 1 in 10,000 hatchlings will reach maturity.

The biggest enemy of the sea turtle is the encroachment of man in the sea turtle habitat.
This includes boat propellers, fishing gear, debris and trash, construction on nesting beaches, artificial lights, and pollution.

Natural predators to eggs and hatchlings are ghost crabs, foxes, raccoons, birds, and dogs on land and large fish in the ocean.

The nesting season begins on Holden Beach in May and ends in September.

YOU CAN HELP

1.
Turn off all lights that face the ocean (including carports) between May 1st and October 31st.
2.
Call our 24 hour pager (910-754-0766) for any sea turtle sightings or 911 to report any unlawful activities or harassment of a sea turtle.
3.
Please be sure that there is a red turtle magnet with the pager number posted on your refrigerator. Magnets are available at the town hall.
4.
Use a red filtered flashlight when walking on the beach at night. Red cloth to put over your flashlight is available at the Turtle Talk Program or from your island realtor.
5.
Pick up any trash, especially plastic, from the beach.

Go Green ! Recycle ! Buy Antique, Vintage & Pre Owned

Go Green ! Recycle ! Buy Antique, Vintage & Pre Owned

Now picture looking back at the beach and instead of seeing water, you see a dump. It is around 10 feet high, filled with trash. All the water is a dark shade of brown. The stench is horrifying. Any fish that used to live in the water are long dead. This could be the future of the world, a planet of overflowing trash. People have been carelessly throwing things away. All of this garbage has been piling and piling. Most have been sent to landfills, but they're now overflowing.

Garbage has been discarded into the ocean since humans have lived on seashores or near waterways flowing into the sea. The major problem lately has been plastic in the ocean. Since the 1940s, plastic has increased dramatically. It can harm or kill many animals. Many animals mistake the plastic for food and eat it. They have also become entangled in discarded or lost nets. Our trash is not only taking up land but its also destroying resources, animals, and their way of life.

Americans generated around 225 million tons of trash. Only about one-third of America's trash is recycled; the rest is either incinerated or dumped in landfills. Just think about how much trash America is creating. One of the most important ways of reducing trash is to recycle & Reuse. All in all, trash reducing shouldn't be a problem as long as we put all our minds together. We just need to take action.

The next time you need to purchase anything, check yard sales, thrift shops, auctions & of course check on ebay. Buy antique, vintage or pre owned items, most of the time you can find what you are looking for at a much better deal. Same money and the environment.

Check out my store on ebay for antique, vintage, collectible, pre owned & new.
